About McCorkell Academy of Highland Dance
McCorkell Academy of Highland Dance is a Halifax-based dance school dedicated to excellence in Highland dance education for dancers of all ages and skill levels. Founded in 2015 by Elizabeth McCorkell, a Fellow of the Scottish Dance Teachers' Alliance and an adjudicator with the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing, the academy provides high-quality instruction rooted in tradition, technique, and performance excellence. The academy offers recreational, competitive, and adult programs designed to help dancers build strong technical foundations, confidence, stamina, and artistry. Students benefit from expert coaching in a supportive and encouraging environment while developing a deeper appreciation for Scottish culture and Highland dance traditions. In addition to regular classes, dancers have opportunities to participate in performances, competitions, and special events, helping them grow both on and off the stage.
