About Forrester School of Dance
The Forrester School of Dance is one of Cape Breton's longest-standing dance schools, providing dance education and cultural enrichment since 1965. Founded by renowned dance educator Dr. Eileen Pottie Forrester and now led by Shannon Forrester, the school has spent more than six decades helping dancers develop technical excellence, confidence, and a deep appreciation for Celtic dance traditions. Based in Sydney, Nova Scotia, the school offers both recreational and competitive training in Highland Dance, Cape Breton Step Dance, Jazz, Freestyle, Hip Hop, and specialty choreography. Rooted in Scottish and Cape Breton heritage, the program combines high-quality dance instruction with mentorship, performance opportunities, and community involvement.
